hp deskjet ink advantage 5275
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using the HP 5275 deskjet printer. I'm trying to set up the digital fax wizard in order to be able to have faxes sent directly to my computer. This had worked before, but suddenly stopped. In the digital fax to folder set up I entered the computers user name and password, as requested, but I get an error message saying that my user name and/or password is incorrect.   I've made numerous attempts - all unsuccessful.

Hi,

What action are you trying to achieve?

The HP Digital Fax Setup Wizard meant to set up receive faxes to a computer, not to send a such from the computer.

To send a fax from your computer print any document to the Fax - HP Deskjet 5200 printers and provide the fax number, then send the fax.

I'm trying to RECEIVE faxes directly to my computer via the fax digital wizard, not to sedn faxes.

Thanks for clarifying, your wording was a bit confusing with the term “sent”, sorry for any misunderstanding.

Have you tried selecting the 1st option to receive faxes only when you logged in?

Please give it a try if not.

Also, try running the HP Deskjet 5200 by right-clicking it and selecting Run as Administrator, then check for any difference.

Hi Shlomi and thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it just doesn't work. I'm always logged in and I opened the HP as 'administrator" to no avail. I keep getting the error message about my user name and password. I tried using "administrator" as the user name, didn't work.  Windows shows the user name as "owner" and that doesn't work either. I must have tried over a dozen times. I do indeed receive faxes, but they  automatically print out, which is what I'm trying to avoid.
