My desktop computer failed, so I'm using my wife's desktop computer. I can print from her computer but when I try to scan, I get this message: The HP ENVY 5660 series was not found. Another message indicated I need to install the WIA driver. I downloaded what I thought was a complete package from HP, but I still can't scan. This is very frustrating and I would appreciate any help.

I understand you have issues scanning from your printer.

 

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

 

Did you make any changes to your printer?

 

Are you able to make a copy from your printer?

 

In the search type services.msc

 

Find WIA (Windows image acquisition) right click properties select startup type to automatic and start the service.

 

Also, go to shell hardware detection right click properties select startup type to automatic and start the service.

 

Try using windows scan and capture application and check if it helps.

WIA and shell hardware detection were both set to automatic. I did download HP Scan and Capture and am now able to scan from that app. I would prefer to acquire a scan from within Irfanview but it can't find WIA for the scanner. Nevertheless, I can at least access and use the scanner again. Thanks for your help!!
