The Copy menu on the printer display allows you to easily select number of copies and color or black and white for copying on plain paper. You can also easily access advanced settings, such as changing the paper type and size, adjusting the darkness of the copy, and resizing the copy.

To make a copy

1. Load the original print side up into the document feeder, or load the original print side down on the right front corner of the scanner glass.
2. On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch Copy .
3. Specify the desired number of copies. Do either of the following to specify the number:
● Select a number in the spinner. You can swipe left or right in the spinner to increase or decrease the number.
● Touch the keypad button on the right side of the spinner to enter a specific number.
4. Touch (Settings) to specify paper size, paper type, quality, or other settings.
TIP: To copy two pages of the original to 2 sides of a sheet, load your original print-side down on the scanner glass, touch the toggle button next to 2–Sided to set it to ON.
5. Touch (Back) to return to the Copy menu.

Scan

If you do not have the file already saved on your device, get the file or scan the content and save the scanned image to that device.

Once you have a file of the scanned image, print using the appropriate software / application for your device (computer, tablet, Mac, Phone) to print the image at the Photo Size you want.

If you need a print size larger than the paper supported by your printer, insert the saved image file into a document > Save the Document as a PDF file >  Use appropriate software / program to "tile" the image across as many sheets of paper as needed to print the content at the size you want.  If desired, one section of a tiled poster can be printed.

My bad, I was not very clear at all. Tried to take a cardboard template and increase its size by copying it on the 5255 and using the "Custom" and "Resize" options to increase its size. Our thought was changing to 300% would be a 3x increase in size, but after making the setting change, there didn't seem to be a way of getting the print at an increased sizing. There didn't seem to be a way to save the change. Used to do this sort of enlargement often on Xerox printers in the office. Are we misunderstanding this function on the 5255?

Resize can be attributed to Copy, or Print, or an image editing software.

Guessing you are using Copy at the printer.

Sure, if there is a selection for 300% of original size, it follows that the paper copy made from the original would be larger.

I think you are saying you are selecting to Copy > Resize  > Custom > 300%

--  the printed output - the copy -- is not resized.

Is the original reproduced on the paper at all?

To be fair, it's been nearly 20 years since I've seen a Xerox business printer - I doubt what you are describing are the same animal as the monsters we had "back in the day".  Excellent machines.

Not sure whether your 5255 includes the Copy feature in the EWS.

If yes, then the following might be useful in the context of setting up the job.

One thing to check is that the paper size and type are a match to the size you expect the copy.

If the original and the paper are different sizes, the paper size might balk.

How does this affect a cardboard template?  No idea --

Try copying the template "at original size" to test whether the Copy setup is working at all.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Copy > Settings > Default SettingsCopy Defaults

Example - EWS - Copy > Settings > Default Settings

Thanks for trying to help. Copy produced image same size as original template. Yes, I was referencing the the 70 and 80's printers. I have no idea what EWS means. Wife gave up trying to do the task quickly using the printer, and redrew the template at the size she needed.

@FlyCreekPaw

You are welcome.

It's one of the few times I did not post the EWS how-to document.

I am sorry the example text and picture were not enough to help.

Fixed below...

The Embedded Web Server (EWS) provides an excellent alternative to typing on the tiny printer control panel.

Perhaps your printer does not provide the Copy section.

Regardless, EWS can be helpful in other ways.

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Open your favorite browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Open Tab Copy > Settings > Default SettingsCopy Defaults
