@Jocando, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with the Officejet 5740 e-All-In-One Printer series, where the fax screen is covering the display, making it difficult to access other features of the printer. Here are some steps you might consider to resolve this issue:

Cancel the Current Operation: Try using the Back or Cancel buttons on the printer's control panel to exit the current screen.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This might reset the screen to the default view.

Check Fax Settings: You can access the fax settings from the printer control panel by selecting Fax, followed by Setup or Settings. Ensure that Auto Answer is turned off if you don’t receive fax calls.

Disable Fax Features: If you don't intend to use the fax feature at all, you might disable or ignore it from the printer's settings.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or HP's official support website.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
