@LouisCou1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding how to scan to your computer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
To scan a document to your computer using the HP DeskJet 4258e All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:
Using HP Smart App
- Install HP Smart – If you haven’t already, download and install the HP Smart app on your computer from the HP website or Microsoft Store.
- Open HP Smart and sign in or create an HP account (if required).
- Prepare the scanner:
- Lift the scanner lid and place your document face down on the scanner glass.
- Align it with the guides on the edges.
- Start the scan:
- Click Scan on the HP Smart app.
- Choose Scanner as the source.
- Select Color Mode, Resolution, and File Type (JPEG, PDF, etc.).
- Click Scan to begin.
- Save the scan:
- Preview the scanned document, then click Save, Print, or Share as needed.
- Choose the location to save the file on your computer.
Using Windows Built-in Scanner
- Place the document on the scanner as mentioned above.
- Open the Windows Scan App:
- Press Windows + S, type "Windows Scan", and open the app. (If not installed, get it from the Microsoft Store.)
- Select your printer and adjust scan settings (color, resolution, file type).
- Click "Scan" and save the file to your computer.
Using macOS Built-in Scanner
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP printer, then click Scan > Open Scanner.
- Adjust the scan settings and click Scan.
- Save the document to your Mac.
Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊
