I cant scan to a word file

Scan-to-Word feature is not included in the Printer software.

 

How to Scan (Windows)

 

You have to either purchase the software to convert the content or find a free version to convert the content (PDF) to an editable document.

 

OCR software allows you to create / edit a PDF document - although this is not the same as scanning the document to Word, it might suffice (depending on your need).  OCR software is available either as part of your printer software OR free versions can be found on the 'net.

 

For example:

Some printers include OCR software – open your printer’s website support Software and Driver category to check for included OCR software included with your printer.

 

If your printer software does not include the OCR package, free alternatives are available.

 

  • NAPS2 provides a decent sized “scan and crop” window!

There are LOTS of references on the 'net - choose one that makes sense for your need and your budget.

 

For example, some versions of  Microsoft Office allow you to scan the document as a PDF file, open the PDF file in Word...
