hp envy 4520
Chrome OS

When I type the ip address of my hp envy 4520 into my browser it says site cannot be reached. I have reset to factory default and reconnected, shut down and restarted, and everything else i can think of. It's never done this before. When I try to connect to it's own signal in my wifi choices (which I have done before to print) now it wants a password, which it has also never done before.

SO I was able to find the password to connect to the printers own wifi, but why cant I access it from the same wifi both my computer and the printer are on. This means I can't scan something and be on the internet at the same time, for instance I had more than one page to scan, so after I scanned the first I wanted to see how to add another scan page to the same file, but i couldnt access the internet because I'm on the printer's wifi signal to be able to scan. I don't know why it's doing this and it is very inconvenient. Also since I am not online I am forced to save it to my computer instead of my google drive.

Hi @trapperjohn187

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you the printer is not connecting to your wireless network.

I’d love to help!

It looks like you have connected the PC to the printer using Wi-Fi direct and that is the reason why are unable to browse.

I recommend you to follow below steps and run the wireless setup wizard to connect the printer to your router.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Turn on the printer if it is not already on.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon .

    The Wireless screen displays.

  3. Touch the Settings icon .

  4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard, then follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

Take care!

Cheers!

HP/Microsoft have done a terrible job in coordinating the scanning feature with Windows 10.   Every time windows 10 updates, the scanner feature disables with an error message that states the scanner to pc app is disabled.  BUT I NEVER USE AN APP TO SCAN.  I hit the printer button to scan and it worked great until Windows 10.   Now the copier and scanner feature in the all in one printer is disabled.  How do i get rid of whatever windows 10 adds to disable my scanner feature?   Please help.  I have lost many hours dealing with this and it is something that will make my real hesitant to buy an hp printer product again when I upgrade.
