Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Hi @sgac,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue of your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e not scanning to your iMac, and to locate or create the HP folder for scanning, follow these steps.

Check for HP Smart App Installation

  • HP Smart App is the primary software used for scanning and managing your HP printer on macOS.
  • If you don’t already have it installed, download and install it from the Mac App Store.

Open the HP Smart App

  • Once installed, open the HP Smart app from your Applications folder or use Spotlight by pressing Cmd + Space and typing "HP Smart."
  • This app will allow you to scan documents directly from your iMac.

Locate the HP Folder

  • By default, the HP Smart app should be located in the Applications folder:
    1. Open Finder.
    2. Go to Applications in the left sidebar.
    3. Look for the HP Smart app in the list.
  • If you don’t see it, try searching in Spotlight by pressing Cmd + Space and typing "HP Smart."

Create a Scan Destination Folder (if necessary)

  • You can create a specific folder for your scanned documents:
    1. Open Finder and navigate to where you want the folder.
    2. Right-click or press Ctrl + Click and select New Folder.
    3. Name the folder (e.g., "Scans") and remember the location for saving scanned documents.

Set up Scanning to the Folder

  • In the HP Smart app, select your printer, then choose Scan.
  • Use the settings to adjust scan preferences and select the location where you want to save the scanned files (like the folder you created).

Troubleshoot Scanning Issues

  • Ensure that your iMac and printer are on the same network.
  • Restart both your printer and iMac to refresh the connection.
  • Make sure the printer's firmware is up to date.

If you are still unable to scan or locate the HP Smart app, try reinstalling the app or resetting your printer’s settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
