HP Recommended
Product: Color Laserjet MFP Enterprise M480
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

M480 is connected via the network. printing is fine; all HP software options check out fine for printing. prints come out clean and without issue.
scanning is the problem. the following options were tried and did not work:

 

- checked and re-checked network

- tried via USB

- tried HP scan doctor, twain admin, various HP diagnostic software titles many times

- added custom scan ports into windows firewall (17626-17627) both IN and OUT

- had HP support representative connect remote and check the machine - all is in perfect working order

- HP tech suspected that windows was the cause

(same blame game HP & microsoft have been playing for 20+ years now)

- upgraded to windows 11

- removed all windows 10 drivers for HP

- installed full software package & universal scan driver from HP site for windows 11

- WIA is running and set to automatically run
- custom .ini file created for custom scan ports (listed above)
included is my fav. image from this whole adventure.

please advise of how to resolve this!
