Welcome to the HP support community.

Clean the scanner

Fingerprints, smudges, dust, or debris on the scanner glass, under the scanner lid, or in the document feed slot can cause lines and color bands. Clean these parts with a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner.

Reset the scanner

Follow these steps to reset the scanner.

  1. Close the HP scanning software, if it is open.

  2. Disconnect the USB cable that connects the scanner to the computer.

  3. Reconnect the USB cable that connects the scanner to the computer.

  4. Verify the following USB cable settings.

    • Make sure that you are using the USB cable that came with the scanner.

    • Make sure that the USB cable is connected correctly to the rear of the scanner. The USB symbol on the end of the cable (the connector) should be facing up. When connected correctly, the USB connector will feel slightly loose. When connected incorrectly, the USB plug will feel too tight.

    • Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB port on your computer. If the USB cable is connected to a port on the back of the computer, move it to a port on the front or side of the computer.

  5. You might need to turn the computer off, wait 60 seconds, and then turn the computer on again.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
