I know there was some security  problem with Windows scanning - is the same true for Mac Sonoma? Why does my account say No Devices? I am using the printer fine and don't want to jeopardize that.

Hi @khaki-EJoy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 6155e printer works for printing, but your HP account shows “No Devices” when you try to scan on macOS Sonoma. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm the printer is added locally on the Mac
Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners and verify the HP 6155e is listed.
If it prints successfully, the printer is connected locally and not a hardware issue.

Check macOS Sonoma permissions for HP Smart
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Ensure HP Smart has permission for Files and Folders, Bluetooth, and Local Network, as scanning requires device discovery access.

Sign out and sign back into HP Smart
Open the HP Smart app and sign out of your HP account.
Close the app completely, reopen it, and sign back in to refresh the device association.

Add the printer again inside HP Smart
In HP Smart, select Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer.
Even if the printer already works, this step links the device to your HP account for scanning features.

Verify printer and Mac are on the same network
Confirm both the Mac and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
If they are on different networks or bands, HP Smart may show “No Devices.”

Check HP Smart app version
Make sure HP Smart is updated to the latest version from the Mac App Store.
Older versions may not fully support macOS Sonoma security requirements.

Test scanning without HP account features
In HP Smart, try selecting ScanScan from Computer if available.
This uses local scanning and does not rely on cloud or account-based device detection.

I hope this helps.
