i currently have a 8020 HP printer. When I have scanned things in the past, it has given me the option of saving it. Now it has stopped doing that

I understand your HP 8020 printer is no longer giving you the option to save scanned documents. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the scanning software

Open HP Smart or HP Scan and ensure it’s the latest version.

Sometimes updates or corrupted settings can remove the “Save” option.

Verify scan settings

Make sure the scan type is set correctly (Document or Image) and the destination is set to your computer rather than cloud services.

Some apps default to cloud storage after updates.

Restart the HP software and printer

Close HP Smart / HP Scan, turn off the printer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

Reopen the scanning software and check if the “Save” option appears.

Check user permissions and folders

Ensure the folder you normally save to exists and you have write permissions.

Try saving to a different folder or desktop to test.

Reinstall the HP scanning software

Uninstall HP Smart or HP Scan, then reinstall from the HP website.

This can restore missing options and correct corrupted settings.

Test scanning directly from Windows

Go to Windows Fax and Scan or Windows Scan app and try scanning.

If saving works here, the issue is specific to HP software.
