To set a default file name and directory for scanned documents on your HP OfficeJet 6958 while using Windows 11, follow these steps:

Using HP Scan Software (HP Smart or HP Full Feature Software)

Option 1: HP Smart App

Open HP Smart – If you don’t have it installed, download it from the Microsoft Store.

Click on Scan.

Select Scanner Settings (Gear icon or Advanced Settings).

Choose the desired file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.).

After scanning, click Save As and choose the desired folder and file name.

Option 2: HP Full Feature Software (HP Scan)

If you installed the Full Feature Software from the HP website, you can use HP Scan:

Open HP Scan (Search "HP Scan" in Windows).

Click Scan Document or Photo.

Adjust scan settings if needed.

Click More > Destination.

Choose a default save location (set folder).

Check the option to ask for file name before saving.

Click OK and then Scan.

Using Windows Fax and Scan

Open Windows Fax and Scan (Search for it in Start).

Click New Scan.

After scanning, click Save As and choose the file name and directory.
 

Customizing Save Location (HP Smart App)

If you want to change the default folder for scanned files:

Open HP Smart.

Click on Settings.

Look for Scan Settings.

Set the default save location.
