hp scanjet G3110
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Installer misidentifies my new Dell 660s running 64-bit Windows 7 (factory installed) as a 64-bit XP OS and fails (XP has never been installed on the computer).    I have downloaded the latest version of the recommended software directly from the HP support site.  Obviously there is an installer problem.

Is there a workaround or another suitable piece of scanner software?

Hi @ChanVo,

Thanks for getting back to me.

This is a very peculiar issue. I am not sure why the installer is recognizing your computer as running Windows XP.

You mentioned that the Dell computer was new, maybe there are Windows Updates that need to be done.

Other than that, I have no documentation that can help with solutions for installation software thing that your computer is running Windows XP when it is actually running Windows 7. This might be a topic better suited for the Microsoft Community Forums.

Hi @ChanVo,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your installation issue.

I understand that you are trying to install software and drivers for an HP Scanjet G3110 Photo Scanner on a Windows 7 PC but the installer is not recognizing your PC properly and of course the installation is failing. I would like to help with that.

From what you have listed above it loos as though you may have downloaded an older version of the software. The file name for the file that you would want to download is setup_full_G3110_20_0_0_02.exe. Click here to visit the download page.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

In fact, if this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution", and the "thumbs up" buttons down below in this message. 🙂

Thanks!
