Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Not tec savy -HP Photosmart C4200 series won't scan.  Mac tells me I need the developer to provide an update.  Can't find this on HP website.

Hi,

Download and install below drivers from Apple:

Once completing the installation open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and remove your printer, then click the plus sign to re-add it and select your printer model within the Use drop-down menu, then try scanning from within this screen, or from within the Preview app:

tried steps suggested thanks - but didn't work.  "HP scanner app" will damage your computer was mac response - same app I used for years with no prob?
