When will HP start supporting HP Easy Scan for macOS 10.15 Catalina?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the scan issue. 

 

HP Easy Scan is currently not fully compatible with macOS Catalina and we'd suggest you use the image capture. We're actively working to restore complete functionality. You may refer to this document for more information - - HP Printers - HP Easy Scan Is Not Currently Supported in macOS Catalina

 

HP and Apple are working together to resolve this issue.

It has been months since this problem was first identified. Are HP and Apple actually working on a fix (if so, when)? The suggested work-around is very cumbersome.

Hey HP your lack of communication in regards to this matter SUCKS!!! You keep posting provided work arounds, how about you make a public announcement on your website and tell the user community what is going on. This is pathetic and this issue should have been resolved already, but it should have never happened if you had team that was proactive on major OS updates. This just didn't impact one printer, this has impacted the HP Mac community. I would love to hear from a senior supervisor from the USA on this issue. Simply put this is BS!!!!

I understand your concerns and frustration

 

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Again you miss the point with canned responses. Break away from your scripts that you are told to read and how to respond. This response is for lack of better word "Stupid" Read your own message boards, this is a huge problem and nothing gets done about it. Here is a work around, that should quiet the masses, no it pisses the masses off, just not everyone takes the time to voice their disgust with your company. My Serial number and product has no bearing, HP knows what the issue is fix the god edited** problem!!! It has been 3 months since Catalina release. 

 

If you brought my issue to senior management - then you brought it to the right place, but I am guessing that it is not with senior management. I am quickly losing faith in HP. I hope your new CEO can fix the mess that lives within HP.

macOS 10.15.3 (released 1/28/2020) contains the fix for HP Easy Scan.  Once updated HP Easy Scan will be able to scan from the glass or the ADF as normal.

 

Scan to Computer is also fixed with 10.15.3.

 

I did notice that if the printer is in sleep mode, some times an error will be reported.  But if you wake the printer by inserting a page in the ADF or touching the screen you will be able to scan normally.

I just updated my MacBook Air to macOSCatalina 10.15.3 and the flatbed scanner on my HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 is working normally again.  It hadn't worked since I had installed macOS Catalina in early December.  I'd suggest that everyone do that update who has had trouble with the flatbed scanner on their HP printers not working with Catalina.
