my HP4155E won't scan from the document feeder. It will print and copy just find.  It is online, wifi on, updated app and I am logged in.  I just get "Scan Unsuccessful" pop up after hitting the Scan button on the app.

If your HP4155E printer is showing a "Scan Unsuccessful" message when attempting to scan from the document feeder, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Document Feeder:

  • Ensure the document feeder is clean and there are no paper jams or obstructions. Sometimes dust or small pieces of paper can affect the scanning process.

Verify Setup:

  • Make sure your document is loaded correctly, print-side up in the document feeder. The document should be aligned properly and not skewed.

Software and Firmware Update:

  • Double-check if your printer and HP Smart app are up-to-date. Sometimes, they might need a manual check for updates rather than automatic.

Connection Status:

  • Confirm that the printer is properly connected to your WiFi network. Reconnect to the network if necessary.

Scan Settings:

  • Check the scan settings in the HP Smart app. Make sure the input source is set to "Document Feeder" if your printer supports scanning from both the document feeder and the scanner glass.

Try a Different Device:

  • Attempt to scan using another device to rule out any device-specific issues.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your computer or mobile device. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Perform a Test Scan:

  • Try scanning a document using the scanner glass instead of the feeder to determine if the issue is with the feeder specifically.

HP Utility or Embedded Web Server:

  • If available, use HP Utility or the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to perform a test scan and adjust settings.
