my brand new 4255e doesn't copy - tried both feeder and glass, print side up and down on the feeder I only get a blank page after the paper feeds through. The "i" button prints out a page with the blue hp logo in the top right and only a blue check mark, wifi symbol and some boxy looking image on the left side. I bought this printer for my second home so I'm not here very often so it's been a couple/few months since I set it up. Any help would be most appreciated!

Try these steps:

Check Placement of Originals:

  • Ensure documents are placed correctly on the scanner glass or in the document feeder. For the scanner glass, place the document face down aligned with the specified corner as indicated by the icons on the scanner.
  • For the document feeder, place the document face up.

Clean Scanner Glass and Feeder:

  • Dust or smudges on the scanner glass or underneath the document feeder could be causing the issue. Clean the scanner glass and the feeder rollers with a lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner.

Test a Different Document:

  • Try copying a different document to ensure the problem is not with the specific document you are trying to copy.

Check for Firmware Updates:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

 

Clean the Scanner Glass:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Open the scanner lid and clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with a mild glass cleaner.
  • Dry the glass with a clean, dry cloth to ensure there are no streaks or residue.

Check the Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure that the document type and size settings are correctly configured in the printer settings.
  • If you are scanning using the feeder, make sure the scanner bed settings are adjusted to match the document size.

Perform a Test Copy:

  • Place a clean, white sheet of paper on the scanner bed and perform a copy operation to see if the printer is copying anything at all.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for one minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Try the copying process again.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the existing printer driver from your computer.
  • Reinstall the printer driver using the latest version available on the HP Support website.
