my hp desjet all in one 2700 series printer worked great until recently... all of a sudden can't scan!  Did all suggestions even removing & then re adding printer.  Still can't scan unless I go thru a different series of "to do"s & it won't give me the  option of where to put the scanned item, such as desktop!  I just want it back like it was where I go to the "print/scan" on my MAC & it brings up the printer w a button to click to scan & thats it!  I am frustrated companies now wont even give a phone number to call for help!   I'm 84 and not happy!

If your HP DeskJet 2700 series printer suddenly lost its ability to scan, follow these steps to troubleshoot and restore the scanning functionality:

 

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is correctly connected to your computer, either via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Verify that the printer is turned on and properly installed.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your MAC to refresh the connection.

Update Printer Software and Drivers:

  • Go to HP Support and download the latest drivers and software for your HP DeskJet 2700 series printer. Install any updates to ensure compatibility with your MAC.

Check HP Smart App:

  • Use the HP Smart App to scan. Make sure the app is installed and updated. Open the HP Smart App, click on the "Scan" option, and follow the instructions.

Use HP Easy Scan Software:

  • Download and install HP Easy Scan from the Mac App Store. This dedicated scanning software can provide more reliable scan functions compared to the built-in options.

Printer Preferences:

  • Go to “System Preferences” on your MAC, then select “Printers & Scanners”.
  • Make sure your HP DeskJet 2700 is set as the default printer. Click on your printer, then select the “Scan” tab, and attempt to scan from there.
