Hi @WAPDA
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your HP printer’s scanner isn’t connecting or responding, the issue may stem from a driver fault, USB/Wi-Fi miscommunication, or software conflict.
Let’s walk through a few steps to restore scanning functionality.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Scanner Not Connecting
1. Restart Devices
- Power off the printer and your computer.
- Unplug the printer’s power cord for 60 seconds, then reconnect and power it on.
- Restart your computer and try scanning again.
2. Check Connection Type
- If using USB:
- Ensure the cable is securely connected to both printer and computer.
- Try a different USB port.
- If using Wi-Fi:
- Confirm the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer’s control panel.
3. Use the HP App to Scan
- Open the HP App from your Start menu.
- Select your printer > Scan > Scan a Document or Photo
- If the scanner doesn’t respond, click Diagnose & Fix under Tools
4. Reinstall the Full Feature Software
- Visit: HP Printer Drivers and Software
- Enter your printer model and select Windows 11
- Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver package
This includes the scanning utility and resolves missing components.
5. Check Windows Services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
- Ensure the following services are Running and set to Automatic:
- Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
- Shell Hardware Detection
- Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Let me know what you observe after trying these steps—especially whether the HP App detects the scanner or if the scan button responds.
You’re doing everything right by staying proactive, and with a few adjustments, your scanner should be ready to go.
