Hi @PauletteMM, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e printing but not scanning could be due to software, driver, or connectivity issues. Try these steps to resolve it:

Restart Devices

  1. Turn off your printer, computer, and router.
  2. Wait for about 2 minutes.
  3. Turn them back on and check if scanning works.

Check Connection

  • If using USB, disconnect and reconnect the cable to a different USB port.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer and PC are on the same network.
  • If using Ethernet, verify the cable connection.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Open the tool and select your printer.
  3. Click Fix Scanning and follow the instructions.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Uninstall all HP-related software.
  3. Restart your PC.
  4. Download and install the latest full feature software from the HP website.
  5. Set up the printer and check if scanning works.

Check Windows Scan App

  1. Open Windows Scan (Press Windows + S > search "Scan").
  2. Try scanning a document.
  3. If it fails, try scanning with HP Smart App instead.

Check Windows Services

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  3. Right-click it and select Restart.
  4. Set Startup Type to Automatic.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
