Step-by-Step Fix: Multi-Page Scan Not Working (Computer Not Connected)

1. Restart Printer and Computer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.

This clears temporary communication faults between the scanner and PC.

 

2. Check Connection Type

  • If using USB, ensure the cable is securely connected and try a different USB port.
  • If using Wi-Fi, confirm the printer and PC are on the same network.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer to verify IP address and connection status.

 

3. Reinstall Full Feature Software

  • Visit the official driver page:
    HP OfficeJet 5255 Drivers & Software
  • Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver package.
  • During installation, choose the correct connection type (USB or Wireless).

This ensures the scanner driver is properly registered with Windows.

 

4. Use HP Smart or HP Scan App

  • Open the HP Smart app or HP Scan (installed with the full driver).
