Hi @Ginny58 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your printer isn't recognizing your computer, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check Connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or through a network connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). Sometimes, loose connections can cause communication issues.
  • Restart Devices: Turn off both your computer and printer, wait for a minute, and then turn them back on. This simple step can often resolve many connectivity issues.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer on your computer. You can usually download these from the HP website. Outdated drivers can cause compatibility problems. Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8022 All-in-One Printer
  • Check Printer Settings: Verify that the printer is set to the correct mode (e.g., USB, network) and that it's set as the default printer on your computer.
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes, security software can interfere with the communication between your computer and printer. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and check if the printer is recognized.
  • Restart Print Spooler: On your computer, you can try restarting the print spooler service. You can do this by opening the Services app (search for "Services" in the Start menu), finding the Print Spooler service, right-clicking on it, and selecting Restart.
  • Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling the printer software from your computer and then reinstalling it. This process can help fix any corrupted files or settings.
