Hi Folks,

My Officejet Pro 8600 Plus does not show an option for copying legal size paper in the settings window. It onlu shows "Automatic" and otherswhich are non-legal.

With the "Automatic" option selected it only prints letter size either from the glass bed or from the tray.

I am using Windows 7, 64-bit.

What can I do the copy legal size docs?

HP support solved my problem.

Country setting needs to be set to USA. If it is set to México, no legal size paper option is available for that region. Can't figure out why.

Hi michaelhunter33,

You are starting the copy from the control panel of the printer?

To copy legal sized on this model you need to put the original in the ADF.  From the control panel, touch copy and then settings.  Use the arrow to scroll down and select paper size.  I found legal on the list.

Hi, Thaks for your response. Yes, I am starting the copy from the control panel. However, as I mentioned, the option for legal copy does not appear in the panel only the "Automatic" size option, in addition to letter and others, none of which are the legal size option.

So I am dumbfounded. How can I get the Auto option to recognize legal size or how can I get the panel to give me that option?

Don't see how to mark as "Accepted Solution" but it is.

12-16-2013   HP officejet pro plus 8600 doesn't give legal size paper print option. It cuts print job to letter size. I set the default to legal size in Printer Preferences, but still prints only letter size.

Hi NK32,

Sorry to hear that you are unable to print in legal size, with your Officejet 8600 Plus. I would like to help you with this.

I am unsure of which operating system you are running, so I am going to make some recommendations for you in the meantime.

Try printing from another program. (The program itself may only be giving you the option for letter size).

If you are running a Windows OS, please download, save and run the Print and Scan Doctor which will fix common printing problems.

You can also try Uninstalling the Printer Software, restarting your computer and Reinstall the Printer Software (please choose your OS>Next>Driver-Download).

If these options did not help, please respond with your OS version and I will look into the problem further for you.

Thanks!Smiley Happy

I uninstalled the printer software and reinstalled it again (latest version). I even registered the printer into the USA ePrint service website at the end of the installation.

I also updated the firmware.

I changed the country to USA, directly in the printer menu, using the touchscreen panel.

I tried several programs (MS Office and CorelDraw Suite X7), but still there is no option to print legal size documents.

Do I need to also change the HP Print Assistant country and language? The software installs in spanish automatically. I assume this occurred because my Windows 8 OS is also in that language.  I do not see an option to change the language or country for that program.

Please help!!!

STEP #2- Load legal size paper into the paper tray.

STEP #3- Hit "SETTINGS"

STEP#4- hit "PAPER SIZE"

STEP#5- hit "LEGAL"

STEP#6- HIT "COLLATE"!!

STEP#7- HIT "ON"

STEP#8- hit "DONE"

STEP#9- Enter the amount of copies that you want.

STEP#10- THEN SELECT "COLOR" OR "BLACK"

I seriously hope that this helps:)
