Photosmart 7525 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently reset windows 10 and installed the HP driver package for my Photosmart 7525 printer. I run the printer via wifi, and when I load the drivers HP software finds a network printer and installs it. The problem is the printer runs much better as a non-network wifi printer. I can add a non-network driver, but there is no Print assistant (there is a print assistant for the network driver. Previously there was another program installed and it worked with the non-network driver with a different looking Print Assistant, but I can not find the program on the HP site. This program had some strange hovering printer icon in the start menu. Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about. My only thought is perhaps this new Print Assistant is part of an update that has not been reloaded yet,

Welcome to HP Support Community

Did you install the Full Feature Software? Are you trying to connect the Printer via USB instead of WiFi?

I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software once again

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Note: If you wish to use the printer as Non-Network ( USB ), select the USB option during installation. Connect the USB cable only when prompted during installation

Keep me posted how it goes 😊

The Full Feature Software Package which you installed was released on Oct 22, 2015.

Are you able to print?

Yes, I am able to print. With both printer drivers being used, (two icons) one Network, one not, making the none network printer the default. When I click on either printer icon, an HP menu pops up, asking which printer I am inquiring about, this allows me to use the non-network driver to access the printer assistant, without the HP software wanting to load the Network driver (IOW, when using the none network driver, I could not access the printer/scan/copy asssitant, instead it would act like there was no printer installed and wanted to look for a printer and re-install the network driver). Several weeks ago, I was using the Network driver (I didn't know that a wifi printer was not necessarily a network printer), and the printer kept dropping off, requiring me to cycle the printer off and on every time I wanted to print.  This led me to run your Print Doctor, which could not find a problem, but I directed it to delete the printer driver. When I used the Control Panel Printer App to re-load the printer, it loaded both a greyed out network printer (icon) and a functioning non-network printer (icon). It was then I found the non-network driver printed almost instantainiously, where the network printer, when it worked, took about 10-15 seconds to start printing. I also found I could access a different looking printer assistant when I clicked on the non-network printer icon. At this point, it is working, so I am going to leave it alone, and wait to see if the newer printer assisatnt will show up.

Okay, what I was looking for showed up again, it's the HP Smart app. At the time I did not realize it was available from the Windows app store, as it simply appeared when I was installing the printer. This app is independent of the driver installation, so  I can open it anytime I want for scanning or ink levels with the non-network printer and it won't try to install the network printer. Thanks for your attention.
