I understand how frustrating it is when your OfficeJet Pro 8082e won’t scan to PDF, especially if you rely on it for work. Let’s fix this step by step without sending it for service.

1. Check HP App Settings


2. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to Printer Control Panel > Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
  • Or update via HP Smart under Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.


3. Enable Full Scan Features

  • Open HP Smart > Scan Settings.
  • Ensure Enable Scan to Computer is turned on.
  • If using macOS, grant Full Disk Access to HP Smart in System Settings > Privacy & Security.


4. Use HP Scan Extended (Windows)

If you’re on Windows, download HP Scan Extended: HP Scan Extended Tool


5. Alternative Workaround

  • Scan as JPEG and then use the HP app or Preview (macOS) to combine into a PDF.

If the issue persists, it could be:

  • Corrupted HP app installation → Reinstall the app.
  • Firewall blocking scan communication → temporarily disable firewall and retry.
