officejet 4500 and Windows 11

My officejet 4500 is not working with the new Laptop with Windows 11.

The printer has problems and the scanner is not working at all.

Do I have to install new drivers?

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet 4500 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

The printer is old and the operating system is new and that is what is causing the compatibility issue. I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

thank you for your answer. Unfortunately it did not help. 

I can print a test page, but the scanner is not working. The Windows11 Scan App prompts: "No Scanner found".

So the question is, is there a HP Officejet 4500 driver available which is compatible with Windows11?

To answer your question: There are no Officejet 4500 drivers available for Windows 11.

Does this really mean that I have to scrap now my Officejet4500 because there is no driver for Windows11 available? I understand that HP wants to sell new equipment, but how does this fit in with the sustainibilty that HP claims for itself?

To answer your question: The printer is meant to work for a long time, however, this model is old and it is compatible with a few windows OS models which can be installed on the PC and used.
