Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I bought a new laptop (HP Pavillion) last week and have been having an issue since then.

With my previous laptop (an old Acer), when I wanted to scan I would use the touchscreen interface on the printer/scanner (officejet pro 8725) and tell it to scan to my laptop and a PDF copy would arrive in a folder.

On the new laptop, I can now only scan by using an app on the laptop, rather than by using the scanner screen, which is much  more frustrating and slow to use.

Googling has told me I can fix this via the HP printer assistant, but this doesn't seem to exiast and I can't seem to download it, I only seem to have the HP smart app and I don't know how to use this to fix this issue.

Can anyone assist?

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-8720-all-in-one-printer-...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software:

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Hi,

Please follow HP Easy Start below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/COL96741/HPEasyStart_12_7_11.exe

Upon the Software Selection screen, be sure to select the HP Basic or Full Feature driver option, once completing the installation of above options you should be able to scan from the printer front panel.
