Hi @JosephG25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure Printer Software is Up-to-Date

Update Printer Software:

  • Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers and software installed.
  • Visit the HP Support - Software and Driver Downloads webpage.
  • Enter your printer model "Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw" and download the latest drivers and software for your operating system.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • HP releases firmware updates with fixes and enhancements. Ensure your printer firmware is updated.
  • Visit HP Support - Firmware Download to update the firmware.

Check Printer and Network Connection

Check WiFi Connection:

  • Verify that the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • The blue wireless light on the printer should be on and not blinking.

Check Network Settings:

  • Make sure your computer and the printer are on the same network.

Perform a Printer Reset

  1. Reset the Printer:
    • Turn the printer off by pressing the power button.
    • Unplug the power cord from the power source and wait for 60 seconds.
    • Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
    • Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Use HP Smart App for Setup

Download HP Smart App:

  • Go to the Microsoft Store or visit the HP Smart website to download and install the HP Smart App.
  • Add your printer in the app by following the on-screen instructions.

Using HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart App and select your printer.
  • Use the app to scan from the printer directly.

I hope this helps.
