HP Photosmart C4795 All-in-One Printer

HP C4795 worked perfectly with Macbook Air, running Venutra 13.4. Suddenly, I no longer have the Scan option in the Printer menu. Printer also doesn't scan to computer when the printer "Scan" button is selected. I changed nothing.

I have un-plugged, deleted, reset and all advised solutions. Don't understand why the Scan funtion disappeared from the menu. Need to be able to scan to my computer.

HELP.

Hi @Gaspe505,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating when a previously working feature suddenly stops functioning. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  1. Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your HP C4795 printer is properly connected to your MacBook Air. Make sure the USB or wireless connection is stable.

  2. Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues between the printer and computer. Restart both your MacBook Air and the HP C4795 printer.

  3. Update Software: Ensure that your macOS and printer driver software are up to date. Updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues. Go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update to check for macOS updates. Also, visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer.

  4. Reinstall Printer Software: Uninstall the existing HP printer software and then reinstall it. This ensures that you have a clean installation. Follow the instructions provided by HP for uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software.

  5. Check Printer Settings: Open System Preferences on your MacBook Air, go to Printers & Scanners, and select your HP C4795 printer. Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer. Also, check the printer queue for any stuck print jobs.

  6. HP Utility: Download and install the HP Utility software if you haven't already. This software can help diagnose and troubleshoot printer issues. You can find it on the HP website.

  7. Reset Printing System: In System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click on the list of printers and select "Reset printing system." Note that this will remove all printers from your list, so you'll need to re-add your HP C4795 afterward.

  8. Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages on the printer's display or on your MacBook Air. These messages can provide clues about the nature of the problem.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and hopefully resolve the issue with the missing Scan option on your HP C4795 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
