The printer screen has become unreadable and unable to select copy options.

Anyway to copy docs without having to scan and print from scan?

If the screen on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-In-One Printer has become unreadable and you're unable to select copy options directly from the printer's control panel, you can still make copies by using the software on your computer. Here's how you can do it:

 

Install HP Smart App:

  • Make sure you have the HP Smart app installed on your Windows 11 computer. If you don't have it installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.

Open HP Smart:

  • Launch the HP Smart app on your computer.

Connect to Your Printer:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. The HP Smart app should automatically detect your printer.

Select Copy:

  • Look for the "Copy" option in the HP Smart app. You should be able to find this in the main menu or toolbar.

Adjust Settings:

  • Once you've selected the copy option, you may be prompted to adjust settings such as the number of copies, color/black-and-white, etc. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure the settings according to your preferences.

Load Document:

  • Place the document you want to copy in the printer's document feeder or on the scanner bed, depending on your printer model.

Start Copying:

  • After configuring the settings, click on the "Copy" or "Start" button within the HP Smart app to initiate the copying process. The app will send the copy job to your printer, and the printer will make the copies without needing any input from the control panel.

Thanks but there is no "copy" option in the HP Smart App.

Only options listed are: get supplies, scans, shortcuts, printables,print documents, mobile fax, help support, print photos, printer settings.

Also, "supply level" doesn't show any indications for any colors, it's just empty.

 

Any further suggestions, all appreciated.
