Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I have the latest HP app on my iPhone and it's up to date.

The printer works with everything, but I want to just copy a document, but the copy selection is ghosted out and I can't put a document under the cover and just copy it.

Hi @MoFieldsl,

I understand your printer can print normally, but the Copy option is greyed out in the HP app and you can’t make a simple copy from the scanner. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm the printer supports standalone copying
Some HP models only allow copying from the printer control panel, not from the mobile app.
Check that your printer has a physical Copy button or copy option on its control panel.

Try copying directly from the printer
Place the document face down on the scanner glass and close the lid.
Press the Black Copy or Color Copy button on the printer itself (if available).

Check that the scanner is detected
Open the HP Smart app and look for Scan features.
If Scan options are also unavailable, the app may not be detecting the scanner correctly.

Restart the printer and iPhone
Turn off the printer, wait 30–60 seconds, then turn it back on.
Restart your iPhone to refresh the app connection.

Confirm the printer is fully awake
Make sure the printer is not in sleep or energy-saving mode.
Tap any button on the printer before trying to copy.

Check printer status in HP Smart
In the HP Smart app, confirm the printer shows as Ready and Online.
If it shows Offline or Limited, copy options may be disabled.

Remove and re-add the printer in the HP app
In HP Smart, remove the printer from the app.
Close the app completely, reopen it, and add the printer again.

Verify scanner lid and glass
Make sure the scanner lid is fully closed and nothing is blocking the glass.
An open lid can cause copy functions to be disabled.

Test copying from another device (if available)
Try copying using the printer buttons or from another phone or computer.
This helps confirm whether the issue is app-related or printer-related.

If the printer copies correctly using its physical buttons but the option stays greyed out in the HP app, the behavior is expected for that model. If copying does not work even from the printer itself, the scanner function may not be initializing properly.

I hope this helps.
