HP Smart Tank 650
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello and thank you in advance for any help.

I have an HP Smart Tank 650. works great, except I cant scan to computer. I was able to click the scan button on my computer and it worked fine. but if you hit the scan button on the printer, it says this feature must be setup first.

so I go to the HP Smart software and under scanning it has a red X and says this feature was disabled by whoever setup the printer. (that would be me). I don't know how I did that but apparently I did. I have no clue how to turn it back on. nothing in the printer settings or in the software that I see. I'm stuck essentially.

My computer is an new HP laptop running windows 10 FWIW.

thanks in advance.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please download the HP Print And Scan Doctor from this Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Run PSDR v5.0.2

Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.

Select the correct Printer and click on Next.

PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing

Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.

Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”

PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.

Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue.  If no issue found close PSDR.

Also ensure the printer has the latest Firmware. Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Thanks a lot for your answer. I re-run for the 5th time the PSDR asper your link and, at long last, I obtained a report: no problems.

I tried then to activate (thru key pad on printer) the manual scanning from PC  and I've found that this function appears to be disabled in the sofware (may be due to a wrong order given by me). This could be the reason for which I cannot open the scanner dialog window .

Can you instruct me how to anable again the scanning from PC?

Thanks.

Dear KrazyToan

I have solved the problem twice:

1) Using WEBScan

2) Enabling printer scanner on the software (how? I don't know!)

Thanks a lot for your assistance.

At the next.
