Hi @leepeck,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Scan to Email and Network Folders:
- Ensure that the printer's scan-to-email or scan-to-network-folder features are not set up to perform automatic scans at intervals.
- Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering its IP address into a web browser.
- Navigate to the scan settings and disable any automated scan schedules.
Disconnect and Reconnect:
- Disconnect the printer from the network (both wired and wireless) and see if the random scans stop. This can help determine if the issue is related to a network command.
- Reconnect the printer to the network and observe if the issue persists.
Reset to Factory Settings:
- Perform a factory reset to clear any erroneous settings that might be causing the unprompted scans.
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
Check for Malicious Activity:
- Ensure that your network is secure and there are no unauthorized devices or users accessing the printer.
- Change the printer’s network password and update any connected devices with the new password.
Firmware and Software Updates:
- Ensure that not only the firmware but also the HP software and drivers on all connected devices are up to date.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
