Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Recently, when using HP Smart, I can scan a document and then when I go to save it the window that pops up is cut off on the right.  I can enter the desired file name and save that one document but that leaves the cut-off window displayed and I cannot close that window because the "close" for it is in the cut-off part of the window.

Hi @jordanmiller123

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the issue. While using the HP App to scan and save documents, the Save window appears partially cut off on the right side. Although you can save the scanned file, the remaining portion of the window stays on-screen and cannot be closed because the control buttons are outside the visible area. We'll work through some checks that can help restore the window display correctly.

Please try the following steps in order:

Close the HP App completely

  • Press Alt + F4 while the affected save window is active.
  • If the window remains, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • End all HP App processes.
  • Reopen the HP App and test a new scan.

Check Windows display scaling

  • Open Settings > System > Display.
  • Under Scale, temporarily set it to 100% or the recommended value.
  • Also verify that the screen resolution is set to the recommended resolution.
  • Restart the HP App and test scanning again.

Reset the HP App

  • Open Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  • Locate HP App.
  • Select Advanced Options.
  • Choose Repair.
  • Test the application.
  • If the behavior continues, return to the same screen and select Reset.

Reposition the hidden window

  • Click the partially visible save window to make it active.
  • Press Alt + Space.
  • Press M for Move.
  • Use the left-arrow key several times, then move the mouse.
  • This can bring the hidden portion of the window back into view.

Test with a different display configuration

  • If using multiple monitors, disconnect any secondary displays temporarily.
  • Launch the HP App on the primary display and perform another scan.
  • If using a docking station, test directly on the computer display.

Update the HP App

  • Open the Microsoft Store.
  • Check for updates to the HP App.
  • Install any available updates and restart the computer.

Run a scan from a different HP App section

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select Scan and test both:
    • Save as PDF
    • Save as Image
  • Confirm whether the cut-off window appears in both scenarios or only one.

To better understand the behavior, could you share:

  • Your Windows version (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?
  • Whether you are using a single monitor or multiple displays?
  • Does the save window appear cut off every time, or only after scanning several documents in the same session?

Take care, and have an amazing day!
