Microsoft Windows 11

HP App does not show printer status but printer is connected to laptop and wireless network and will print just fine.  Will not scan, but has in the past. HP App gives me error message ""Scanning is currently unavailable."  I have unplugged, replugged printer and restarted laptop.  Have checked for updates and it says I am up to date.  Product is HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer. Any help appreciated.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the “Scanning is currently unavailable” error in the HP Smart app for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer,
Restart All Devices

  • Turn off your printer, computer, and router.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your computer and router.
  • Plug in and power on the printer again.

Check Network Connection

  • Ensure both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • In the HP Smart app, check if the printer shows as “Ready”. If not, re-add the printer.

Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Click on “Printer Settings” or the gear icon.
  • Select “Diagnose & Fix” and follow the prompts.

Re-add the Printer in HP Smart

  • In HP Smart, remove the printer:
    • Click the printer name > Remove Printer.
  • Then click “Add Printer” and follow the steps to reconnect it.

Try Scanning from Windows Fax and Scan

  • Press Windows + S, type “Windows Fax and Scan”, and open it.
  • Click “New Scan” and try scanning from there.

Update or Reinstall HP Smart

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app.
  • Download the latest version from HP Smart for Windows.
  • Reinstall and set up your printer again.
