HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer

My HP printer is randomly scanning. I have repeatedly tried unplugging from the pack of the printer, from the power strip & replugged into the wall. I have  turned the power off. Also repeatedly. The firmware is up to date. Please provide other suggestions.

Hi @KarenCann,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to resolve the random scanning issue with your HP DeskJet 4155e printer.

Here are some additional suggestions you can try:

  • Check for Software Issues: Ensure that the printer drivers and software on your computer are up-to-date. Sometimes outdated or corrupt drivers can cause unexpected behavior. You can download the latest drivers and software from the HP support website specifically for your printer model. Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer
  • Reset the Printer: Try performing a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings to their default values and might resolve any software glitches causing the random scanning. Usually, there is a reset option in the printer settings menu or a combination of buttons to press on the printer itself to initiate a reset.
  • Check for Physical Obstructions: Inspect the printer for any physical obstructions that might be triggering the scanning function unintentionally. Look for debris or small pieces of paper that may be stuck inside the printer. Make sure that the scanner lid is closing properly and not obstructed by anything.
  • Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If you are using a wireless connection, try connecting the printer via USB cable temporarily to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to the connection method.
