HP ENVY 7644 e-All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I am trying to scan.  It scans the doc ok, but then I get this error when i try to save it.  Have had the scanner and printer for many years.  On a mac running Sonoma 14.3.1.  Using HP Easy Scan Version 2.0.0 (240214).  Thanks in advance for your help!

Given the details you've provided, it sounds like you're encountering an issue with your HP ENVY 7644 E-All-In-One Printer while trying to save a scanned document on your Mac running macOS Sonoma 14.3.1, using HP Easy Scan Version 2.0.0. This could be related to software compatibility issues, permission settings, or a specific problem with the HP Easy Scan application. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:

 

Update Your Software and Drivers: Ensure that your macOS, HP Easy Scan, and printer drivers are all up to date. HP frequently updates software and drivers to fix bugs and improve compatibility. You can download the latest drivers and software for your printer from the HP website.

 

Check for macOS Compatibility: Verify that HP Easy Scan is compatible with macOS Sonoma. Compatibility issues can arise with new operating system updates. If HP Easy Scan is not compatible, you may need to look for an alternative scanning application that is.

 

Reset the Printing System:

  • Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Ctrl-click) in the list of printers on the left side, then choose "Reset printing system..." from the context menu.
  • After resetting, you'll need to re-add your printer. Click the '+' button and follow the prompts to add your HP ENVY 7644 printer again.

Check Permissions:

  • macOS may restrict certain applications from saving files if the necessary permissions are not granted. Check the privacy settings to ensure HP Easy Scan has the necessary permissions to save files on your Mac.
  • Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab. From here, you can adjust permissions for files and folders.

Try Scanning Using Another Application: If HP Easy Scan continues to fail, you can try using another application to see if the problem persists. macOS comes with built-in scanning functionality that you can access through the Preview app or using the "Image Capture" application.
