We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I have recently promoted to 64 bit machine. Until last march I was windows 7 in 32 bit machine. Old Hp scan that came with my HP envy installing software gave me an option to scan documents without background in .tif format. I usually scan my professional seal and signature to attach on cad drawings.

New 64 bit version of Hp-Scan or HP Smart does not give me any option to have the scan without background. or a custom size.

I could not find any option to attache my screenshot to this post. It has an option to attache a picture.

Is there a way I could scan a document without background?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

You’re right, older HP Scan software had advanced options like background removal and custom size, which HP Smart and the newer HP Scan app no longer provide.

Why HP Smart and New HP Scan Look Different

  • HP Smart is designed for simplicity and mobile/cloud workflows.
  • Advanced features like background removal and custom-size TIFF scanning were part of older HP Scan software, which is no longer bundled with most drivers.
  • However, HP still provides an alternative for Windows called HP Scan Extended for advanced scanning.


HP Official Solution

  1. Download HP Scan Extended
  2. Enable Advanced Settings
    • Open HP Scan Extended.
    • Select Advanced Settings → Look for Background Removal or Image Enhancement options.
    • Choose TIFF as the output format.
       
  3. Update Drivers
    • Visit Official HP® Support.
    • Enter your HP Envy model and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers package.
    • This ensures compatibility with HP Scan Extended.
