Scan function does not respond when using HP smart or easy scan ,  all other functions work on printer and it is is recognized and connected

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, 

I understand you are not able to scan. After reading your post I did go through the Software and drivers for HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a and found out drivers are limited for this printer model: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8600-e-all-in-one-printer-series--... 

 

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Do you get any errors?
  • Have you tried updating the printing apps to the latest versions?

To begin with let's update the printer firmware and printing apps-

  • Use the App Store to update apps on Mac

Check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Also, you can use Apple AirPrint a built-in print driver that allows you to print from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to most HP printers- https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1946968-1947068-16

Hi, Kindly check your driver, There will be an issue with the driver. Because in the previous week I was scanning some SMS Call Internet Packages at my office. So the scan option was not working although it was printing the document. When I analyze the issue. So the driver was not the exact driver of the printer. so when I installed the exact driver of the printer so it start proper scanning. So kindly check the driver of the printer.
