Hi @herb26,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding scanning and locating documents with HP DeskJet 2755e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Setting up the Scan

Ensure Printer and Computer Connection:

  • Make sure your printer is connected to your computer, either through a USB cable or the same Wi-Fi network.

Install HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the HP website or your device’s app store. This app is designed to streamline printing and scanning tasks.

Open HP Smart App:

  • Launch the app on your computer to access the scanning function.

Scanning Documents

Place Document on Scanner:

  • Lift the scanner lid on the HP DeskJet 2755e printer.
  • Place the document you want to scan face down on the scanner glass, aligning it with the top-right corner or the guides provided.

Initiate the Scan:

  • In the HP Smart app, locate and select the “Scan” option.
  • Choose your desired scan settings (e.g., resolution, color vs. grayscale).
  • Click on “Scan” to start the process. The app will show a preview of the scan.

Saving and Locating Scanned Documents

Save the Scan:

  • After the scan is complete, click on the “Save” or “Save As” button in the HP Smart app.
  • Choose a file format (such as PDF or JPEG) and select the destination folder where you want to save the document.
  • Make a note of the location you are saving to (e.g., Desktop, Documents folder).

Check Save Location:

  • Navigate to the folder where you saved the scanned document to verify its presence.

Ensuring Documents Are Not Lost

Create a Dedicated Folder for Scans:

  • Before scanning, create a dedicated folder on your computer where you will save all scanned documents. This can help keep them organized and easy to locate.

Consistent Naming Conventions:

  • When saving files, use a consistent naming convention that indicates the content or date. This will make them easier to find later.

Back Up Important Scans:

  • Regularly back up your scanned documents to an external drive or cloud service to prevent data loss.
