Where do my scans go?  I work on a MS Surface Pro.  Just scanned 6 pages and I can't find them.

Hi @Lercher,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your scans are usually saved to a default folder set by the HP scanning software or Windows. Here’s how you can find them:

Check the HP Scan Software Save Location

  1. Open HP Scan on your Surface Pro.
  2. Go to Settings or Preferences (depending on your software version).
  3. Look for the Save Location or Scan Destination setting.
  4. This should show the folder where your scans are saved. Usually, it's:
    • Documents > Scanned Documents
    • Pictures > Scans

Search for Your Scan Files

  1. Open File Explorer (Windows + E).
  2. In the search bar, type *.pdf (if you scanned as PDF) or *.jpg (if you scanned as an image).
  3. Press Enter, and Windows will search for recently saved scanned files.

Use HP Smart App

  1. Open HP Smart on your Surface Pro.
  2. Go to the Scan section.
  3. Check Recent Scans—your files may be listed there.
  4. If found, click on the file, and select Open Folder Location.

Check OneDrive or Cloud Storage

If you have OneDrive or another cloud backup enabled, the scans might have been saved there.

  • Open OneDrive from the system tray (bottom-right corner).
  • Check Documents > Scanned Documents inside OneDrive.

Check the Printer Software Scan History

  1. Open HP Printer Assistant from the Start menu.
  2. Click on Scan > Scan to Computer.
  3. Look for recent scan history and check where the files were saved.

Let me know if you need more help finding them! 😊
