Hi @PatsinMaui ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the HP OfficeJet 4650 scanner software, typically used for creating multi-page PDFs. If this option has disappeared, it may be due to a software update or a configuration issue.

Here are some steps you can take to restore this functionality:

Check HP Scan Software

Open HP Scan: Make sure you are using the HP Scan software that comes with your printer. You can find it in your list of installed programs or by searching for it on your computer.

Select PDF as the File Type:

  • Open HP Scan.
  • Select the document or photo scan option.
  • In the "File Type" drop-down menu, choose "PDF". This option often triggers the "Combine into one document" checkbox to appear.

Look for "Combine into one document" Option:

  • Ensure the "Combine into one document" checkbox is selected if it's available.
  • If the checkbox is not visible, proceed to the next steps.

Update or Reinstall HP Software

Check for Updates:

  • Open the HP Smart app or HP Support Assistant.
  • Check for updates to the printer software and firmware.
  • Install any available updates.

Reinstall HP Software:

  • Uninstall the current HP software from your computer.
  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest full-feature software and drivers for the HP OfficeJet 4650.
  • Install the downloaded software and follow the prompts.

Alternative Scanning Software

If the HP Scan software still doesn't show the option, you can try using alternative scanning software:

Windows Fax and Scan:

  • Open Windows Fax and Scan from the Start menu.
  • Click "New Scan".
  • After scanning multiple pages, use the "Save As" feature to save all scanned pages into a single PDF.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve functionality. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Driver Issues: Make sure you are using the correct and most recent drivers for your printer model.
