scan problem

When scanning from the document feeder on my hp7740 it cuts off the scan after 1" or so. When scanning from the flatbed option it scans fine?  Any adeas? It say I dont need to update the drivers? Though it must be that??

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.  What's the size that you're trying to scan through the ADF? The ADF has a maximum size scan :

Scan size (ADF), maximum

• Two-sided (Duplex): 210 x 297 mm
• One-sided: 216 x 356 mm

Which software are you using to scan?  We'd recommend that you download and install the FULL feature software.

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

When using the ADF, ensure "Source"  is "Use document feeder if loaded".

Select the "Page Size" to be the document size (within the maximum ADF scan size)
