Hi @LSM21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To add your email address to the HP printer model 8138e for scanning to email, follow these steps:

Access Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar to access the EWS. You can find the printer's IP address by printing a configuration page from the printer.

Log In:

  • Use the administrator credentials to log in. The default details are typically printed on the printer's manual or sticker; otherwise, consult your IT admin.

Enable Scan to Email:

  • Go to the Scan/Digital Send tab.
  • Expand Email Setup on the left pane and select Default Job Options.
  • Check the Enable Scan to Email checkbox and click Apply.

Configure Default Message Information:

  • Enter the desired Default From email address, subject, and message. Make sure the email address is active and has mailing privileges.

Add Outgoing Email Server:

  • In the Outgoing Email Servers section, click Add.
  • Select the option for SMTP server setup.
  • Enter smtp.office365.com as the server name and choose port 587 for SMTP SSL Protocol.
  • Enable SMTP SSL/TLS Protocol, validate certificates, and require authentication with OAuth 2.0, using your Microsoft account email.

Authenticate and Test:

  • Connect to the Microsoft server and use the generated code at Microsoft device login.
  • Complete the authentication process and return to the EWS to click Next.
  • Test the configuration by sending a test email to ensure the setup is correct.

Test email sent

  1. Ensure SMTP Authentication:
    • Verify in the Microsoft 365 admin center that authenticated SMTP is enabled.

      I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
