Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I used to scan documents to my computer easily with HP Smart. I cancelled my Smart Ink - it was NOT working for me.

First I tried scanning using HP Smart & it looked like I needed to pay for it.

I downloaded the HP free App & installed it.

Now when I try to scan it says there's no connection. But, my laptop is connected to my internet. I use my WiFi to print from my MAC Book with NO problems.

Why can't the scanner see the connection? One option said to connect my computer with a cable to the printer. I don't want to do that when I have WiFi. Plus, I don't have a cable.

Can you please help me?

Linda

Hi @LindaPG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP printer still prints over Wi‑Fi but scanning says no connection, the issue is likely with the HP app/HP Smart setup, not your internet itself.

From HP’s setup guidance for Mac:

  • The HP app and HP Smart app are used to set up and manage the printer. HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site.

  • For Wi‑Fi setup, your Mac should be connected to Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth should be turned on, and on some devices the app needs permissions to detect the printer.

  • If the printer is not found, HP recommends restoring Wi‑Fi setup mode on the printer and then adding it again in the HP app within 2 hours.

  • On macOS, if you repeatedly get local network permission issues, HP recommends uninstalling and reinstalling the HP app to reconfigure network settings. After reinstalling, open the HP app, click the plus sign, and set up the printer again.

  • HP also notes the HP app replaces HP Smart, but if the HP app is not available for your device, HP Smart provides full-feature printer support.

What to try

  1. Make sure your Mac is on Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth is turned on.

  2. Open the HP app and try to add the printer again.

  3. If the printer is not found, restore Wi‑Fi setup mode on the printer and re-add it.

  4. On your Mac, if prompted, allow Local Network access for the HP app.

  5. If the Mac keeps showing connection issues, uninstall and reinstall the HP app from 123.hp.com.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.

Thank you so much for your response.

I was fighting a serious summer cold and couldn't try your suggestions. Now I'm out of town. I will follow your instructions once I'm back home.

Thank you so much for responding.
