We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Following the surprise download of windows 10 to my laptop last week I cannot scan since this upgrade and keep getting the message that scan to computer no longer available. I have tried different routes to get this to work again from settings, but I cannot get the section which will let me choose scan to computer. I also seem to have something in windows 10 called webscan, I cannot activate this either. Any ideas how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry it is not working -- there are perhaps still other issues (HP or Microsoft drivers and software) preventing the printer software from installing and working as expected.

 

Migration from one Operating System to another can be brutally hard on the File System.

 

Go to bed.

 

Some random ideas:

 

Bullet_Arrow_1.JPGWhen you try again - Restart Everything:

  • Shut down / off everything, including the router (and any mobile devices connected) >
  • Let the router sit (in off condition) for a couple of minutes > boot router > wait for a bit >
  • boot computer(s) on network > boot mobile devices > boot printer

Bullet_Arrow_1.JPGMake sure your Adobe Reader DC is on the latest version (and Flash, too)

 

Bullet_Arrow_1.JPGPrinter is happiest with an Ethernet connection -- and a Static IP if you have stability issues

 

Bullet_Arrow_1.JPGRun Windows Updates several times after a migration; it sometimes takes more than one session to get everything loaded.   Check whether you are set to install "other Microsoft" software with your Windows Updates.  Check the history.  What will this tell you?  Not sure - always good to know what Microsoft is adding to your system...

Start (screen) > Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Advanced Options

 

Bullet_Arrow_1.JPGIf you run McAfee security -- you might need to update it, reinstall it, or switch it off temporarily.  (I really don't know this; I am guessing.)

 

Bullet_Arrow_1.JPGSwitch your UAC (User Account Control) to "Nofify me only when apps try to make changes..." (slider / option second from the bottom):

Control Panel > icon view > User Accounts < Change User Accounts Control Settings

The printer software on the computer likely did not survive the journey to Windows 10.  This is normal -- at some point you may need to remove and (re)install some of your other programs as well.

 

 

Choose your computer > if needed, select your OS > download the Full Feature Software

Help, suggestions, and examples:

Install Full Feature Software – Printer

 

NOTE:  If the computer has been recently migrated to Windows 10 or if you need to re-install the printer software:

 

  1. Create a Restore Point >
  2. Download a fresh copy of the Full Feature software >
  3. Remove any existing printer software from Programs and Features / Apps and Features / All Apps >
  4. Restart (reboot) the computer and log in >
  5. Install Full Feature Software (find in your Downloads folder > Double-Click on the file) >
  6. Restart the computer and log in to finish the installation

  • Create a Restore Point
  • Remove Printer Software
  • Download and Installation

Open your favorite browser > enter the printer's IP address in the URL >

When your printer's EWS page opens > Click Scan

Hi, thank you for your reply to my post. Oh I really hope nothing else has been affected as this is not proving easy to sort out.

 I have tried all that and still not working. After uninstalling all the software for hp and downloading all the updated devices and drivers I restarted and finished downloads. I also turned off the printer and turned it back on as well. When I tried to scan still no luck, but I did get as far as the page which says to activate Webscan in windows 10, but got an error message. After following all the steps, I now have - printer unable to be installed over the network - then - submitted error report - to hp I suspect, then - downloaded solution to the error-. Now in settings I  get - System error - and under that - internal system error. I don't know what to do next, except throw the laptop at the wall and go to bed. (I am in the UK and it is nearly 10pm).  Anyway, once again, thank you.

Thank you for all your help. After working through your suggestions  I managed eventually get the scan working from webscan, something which came with 10. It did not work at first but I think all the above allowed it to work, so I can scan but from my laptop not from the scanner. That will have to do.
