I bought a new HP Windows 10 computer and am attempting to connect my old printer/scanner to the  new computer. Both the computer and printer tell me that the printer is on the wireless network. However, "scan to computer" setting does not work as the printer tells me that the computer is not responding. If I open the HP printer assistant on the computer desktop, I could previously then open the scan dialog screen and send a scan command from there, but now the scan dialog page does not open at all.  Any suggestions?

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

 

Please uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 
2.) Select your HP Printer 
3.) Select Uninstall 
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’ 
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”) 
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab 
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 
10.) Select Ok 
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows 
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

 

Try scanning and let me know how it goes

It tells me it is not connected but everything shows it is and the internet connectionds are working.

After I posted the message the HP Printer Assistant's scan-a-document-to-computer function started to work again, but it is touchy and needs several attempts before it works. Trying to use the scan-to-compuer function on the HP5520 still does not work, but is merely an inconvenience since I can usually scan using the Printer assustant controls. I am reluctant to change anything right now, in case I would lose what is mostly working.  I printed your suggestions and will use them if things get worse. Thanks for your help.
