scan to e-mail format unreadable...formerly was in pdf format. i don't know what changed

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Scan to Email". 

 

Please try re-configuring Scan to Email. Refer to page# 34 from the User Manual for the steps. 

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
