scan to email with Yahoo mail account

I've tried to use my yahoo mail account as an outgoing email profile for "scan to email" function on my HP Officeject 8600.  I input the info required and save and test, but it rejects it.  Any tips on getting it to work?  Thanks

Hi,

By rejecting it, please clarify what exact error message is shown.

Also, please try generating an App-Specific Password and using it as the password among your Yahoo email account, the printer will fail to log in to Yahoo with a Standard security password:

I can offer limited advice - 

• It has been a very long time since I have seen Vista.
• I do not have an 8600 printer.

Discussion

• Scan to Email is supported on the "Plus" model and the "Premium" printer models.
• Unless you are using HP Smart (application available on Windows 10), you will need an email program / client / software installed on the computer.  Email clients / software include, for example, Outlook and Thunderbird.

If the printer supports Digital Filing, you may be able to set up / verify / edit / test Scan-to-Email using the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Scan to Email >  Settings

Notes:

1. Obtain your smtp settings from Yahoo
2. At least Yahoo and Gmail support "two-step" verification.  This setting is not supported by Scan-to-Email. 

Options:

• Use a different email address for which you have not set up two-step verification
• Remove Two-step verification from the email address

and / or

• If available, use (in your email) the Apps Password to side-step / verify the added code information.
